Location
Mattresses, pillows, bed covers, and towels were over used and disgusting. We ordered breakfast in room first morning came after one hour and half all order was wrong, manager removed it from our bill. Me and my husband went to the restaurant was almost empty and the supervisor asked us to wait in the bar because they are serving main course for the three tables at the same time!!!! This is her excuse !!! the rooms was full of bugs and ants, bathroom in 5210 was broken, over all was a bad experience and discus ting.

The entrance to the hotel is so impressive it is like entering a castle. The rooms were big airy and very comfortable. It was the hottest day of the year when I was there, the air-conditioning was not very useful. The beds were firm just the way I like them. The staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful.
The room we had was over a railway line, so it was a bit noisy, didn't mind during the day but early in the morning it was a nuisance. The walls were a bit thin, we could hear everything going on in the next room, which was a bit of a shame because there were a family staying there with 2 very noisy kids! 7am on a Sunday morning is not the best time to be woken up by crying kids!

The hotel was very well positioned for manchester city. It was a very clean and comfotable.
On checking in at the hotel i did ask for an early check in, we had arrived an hour early, but we were told that there were no rooms available. I do find that hard to believe in a hotel that size! It was a special trip as my daughter was 18.

The bedroom (superior) was extremely large... wood-panelled walls... extra kingsize canopied bed and all the facilities (including a fridge) The hotel is very well situated beside a rail station (you can't hear the trains!) and a free bus into the shops (but they are just 5 minutes away anyway). Staff are brilliant, helpful and polite. It's a 'Grand Dame' of hotels with an interior to be seen and appreciated...don't be put off by the rather shabbier exterior... it's a four star hotel that has seen better five star days - but well worth the visit. I'll stay again and recommend it to friends.
No mini-bar, no room safe. The breakfast is fairly standard hotel fare, but even being first down doesn't get you a fresh cooked breakfast! I'd rather take breakfast outside the hotel and definitely wouldn't spend the £30 asked for for an evening meal! To be fair though, there were freshly cooked eggs and waffles available on my visit..they just weren't available at 7 (friday) or 7:30 (Saturday) - they were being 'set-up as I was leaving. The cold breakfast buffet is OK...one thing though... a pot of tea or coffee on the table would prevent having to get refills from the waitinfg staff or make mugs available..the cups are very very small!
